I'm quite fond of shotakon so here's my shota layout. The two in the center are from Virgin Boy 3 which can be found in Yaoi Hell's shotakon section. Both of the boys on the right side are Ayano, from Haruka Minami's artbook, Panis Angelics. The naked Wufei is from a Chocolate Devil (aka Sumeragi Kurikichi)
doujinshi collection called
Mandarake Live Comic
Collection 2.

Christmasy afterglow

this year i haven't really gotten tired of being home for break. maybe because i'm going to have to face graduation and job searching. agghh... >_<

so when i got back before Christmas my Wild Rock drama cd was waiting for me. it was my first experience with drama cds, so i really didn't know what to expect. i really liked this one though! the voices were nicely matched with the characters, and it was quite interesting to hear the seiyuu who did Ranma, Inu Yasha, and Usopp do a yaoi scene! #^_^# his ecchi voice reminds me of Seki Toshihiko's in Ai no Kusabi... hehe

my favorite present was probably my Shinsonic regionless dvd player from yesasia.com. several dvds of Japanese movies came with it. unfortunately the Ichi the Killer dvd had 14 minutes edited out of it, so the ultra-violence wasn't quite as effective as when i saw it unedited in the theatre at Lincoln Center. oh well. i'm curious how my friends will react to it when i show it to them. will they still think it's the most violent thing they've ever seen? the others...

Waterboys: when people say this is a really really gay movie, they're right. it's in a good way, though. in a scantily-clad Japanese teenage boys way. my aunt looked at the dvd cover and said it looked like a gay porn film. uh, i guess you could call it Japanese teenage boy exploitation, if you were so inclined. the story's incredibly cliche, but the movie's so innocent and carefree i can forgive it. did i mention the scantily-clad boys? hehe... the karate-kicking slightly insane girlfriend was pretty cool too. and my mom recognized Naoto Takenaka from seeing him in Shall We Dance? he such a weird guy! he plays the oddest roles, and he's been in a few Japanese porn movies too. o_O;

Spirited Away: i saw this dubbed in the theatres when it came out, but this was my first time seeing it in Japanese. the dvd had a few extras, one of which was a small tour of Ghibli studios and the Ghibli museum, with a short interview with Hayao Miyazaki. unfortunately the narration was all in Chinese, and i could only understand a little of Miyazaki's Japanese, but it was still interesting. the Ghibli museum looks sooo neat. ^_^ Nihon ni ikitai!!

Calmi Cuori Appassionati: the only reason i was interested in seeing this was because Yutaka Takenouchi was in it. he's a cutie. i was expecting a boring, cliched love story, but i was pleasantly mistaken. what makes this film interesting is that Japanese, Italian, and English are all spoken. we get to hear Takenouchi speak all three (and he sounds really sexy in English #^_^#). i don't like Kelly Chen... she seems like too much of a super-traditional Chinese girl that you'd love to take home to your parents. i like my Asian girls with more spunk. there are some twists in the story too. it's honestly uncertain whether the lovers will end up together, because there are so many Japanese movies that have sad or at least bittersweet endings. shockingly, i even enjoyed the Enya music throughout! it seemed to fit the Italian atmosphere... somehow.

Ichi the Killer: as i said above, 14 minutes got chopped off of this one (pun intended :P) so all of the torture/murder scenes don't have the impact and shock-value of the original. i still like it, if only because of Tadanobu Asano playing a psycho dandy.

Battle Royale: i've already seen this one on vcd. it's nice to have it on dvd, though.

Tales of the Unusual: i haven't watching this one yet. it looks kinda goofy. ^_^;

my sister got me a Porno Graffitti dvd, which has some tour video, a collection of their music videos, and for some reason a collection of music videos from a group called Sentimental Bus. they rock, so i'm not complaining. ^_^ she also got me the "best of Bowie" dvd, which is sooo great! 2 discs full of all of David Bowie's music videos! what could be better?

lastly, my Bonnie Pink dvd, "B.P.V. vol 1 (1995-1998)". i'm glad to say that this one at least is an official Japanese dvd. yay for Bonnie Pink! i hear she's living in New York City now, so maybe i'll run into her at Air Market or something. ^___^ this is a great dvd, it has 9 music videos and a ton of extras! her super-saturated bright pink hair is so beautiful. *siiigh* i can't wait to get the second volume, which collects the rest of her music videos up till now. it comes out in February. and then in March the Rip Slyme dvd comes out! yayy!

obsessed with Ilmari, pt. 2

Tadanobu Asano (Ichi the Killer, Gohatto) and Chara are married, btw. they make an attractive couple, both of them being very non-typical looking Japanese. i hope they have some beautiful kids. ^_^

i downloaded and burned a few Steady & Co. songs, they're pretty good, but i still like Rip Slyme better. Ilmari's doing double time because he's in both Rip Slyme and Steady & Co. i noticed Ilmari's solo song on the Tokyo Classic album, "Bring Your Style" is a little reminiscent of Steady & Co. with that acoustic sound they're fond of using... whoever the whiny guy is, he annoys me at times. he's like Pes but not as cute or cool. if Son Goku ever rapped he would sound like Pes, so i have a certain amount of affection for him.

anyway, i think i'll pick up a Steady & Co. cd at Asahiya sometime. but next on my list of Ilmari paraphenalia is "Rip Style" a Rip Slyme book. hehe, i wonder how much of the book is photos... people say they're not a very photogenic group of fellows, but i'm warming to the rest of them. they were all really cute in the "Blue Be-Bop" video, although Ilmari still kicks the rest of the group's asses in the looks dept. ^o^ i think if i came across them in the street i'd think they were attractive.

i've been downloading Rip Slyme magazine pics from the auctions on Yahoo Japan. last week i found one where Ilmari had red hair. kakoii~! Pes is the second cutest. how could you not like him? ^^

11 days till Christmas break......... ^_^ Invader Zim Christmas Special tomorrow at 8pm!!

Blue Be-Bop

so after Asahiya failed once again to find my Wild Rock drama cd, i found it on Cd Japan, surprise surprise. ^_^ i had them send it to home instead of the dorm, because i would die if i went on Christmas break before the cd arrived. i think next on my list is "Papa to Loving All Night" (and even now i can't help laughing out loud at the title XD) it has Hikaru Midorikawa, Takehito Koyasu, and Miki Shin'ichiro. yayyy

if only they carried BL games too... i've been perusing B's Log, and there are so many delicious-looking BL games coming out. the issue i got came with a poster of a new game called... something in kanji, with some German under it saying "eine falsche Beschuldi-gung", and two pencil boards, one for "Boy's Love Scramble" and one for another title with kanji. very neat magazine. if they don't have Game Pierce next time i go to Asahiya, i might get this one again.

i downloaded the new Rip Slyme video, "Blue Be-bop". it's really cute!! the guys drive down to a temple, don hakama and gi, then run around like little boys, hiking up their hakama as they run along the hallways. they're all wearing glasses, and Pes has a bandanna wrapped around his head. he's like a ball of energy, that guy. i have a huge crush on Ilmari, and he looks great during the entire video. i especially liked the geeky thick-rimmed glasses he wears while they're driving to the temple. (#^_^# Ah~ "freaky daburu no Japanese" suki da yo!) the song itself is good too. it's a little jazzy, and it feels comfortable to listen to it on these cold days, like i'm sitting next to that fire they have on the cover of the single. apparently they're releasing their first home video/dvd sometime in March 2003. can't wait to get it!

17 days till Christmas break....... ^_^

Edward, Edward
by Lolah Burford. an excerpt:

"It was the bath that was his undoing, and the small bed. He left, for a smoke and a walk, while Edward had his bath, but when he returned, and had bathed himself, and had the baths removed, and undressed, and climbed into bed, the moon rising shone through the window on Edward's damp hair, curling slightly about his face, and on his fair girlish skin, and his features relaxed, though unsmiling, in sleep. The ruffles of his nightshirt hid the chafing on his wrists.

I should have continued to stay away, he thought, I should have sent George, I should not have allowed this to happen. Though why I should mind, I don't know. His rational thoughts left him, and unable to help himself, he bent gently and kissed the boy's lips."

"Song of the Wind and Trees, in English" indeed. ^_^ and all in that 19th century writing technique that i'm a sucker for. i highly reccommend it, so far.
